Elizabeth McGovern (* 18. Juli 1961 in Evanston, Illinois, Vereinigte Staaten) ist eine US-amerikanische Schauspielerin.

Leben

Elizabeth McGovern kam mit ihrer Familie nach Los Angeles, als ihr Vater dort Jura-Professor wurde. Bereits auf der High School wirkte sie in Theaterstücken mit, danach begann sie in San Francisco Schauspiel zu studieren. Bereits mit ihren ersten Filmrollen zog sie große Aufmerksamkeit auf sich. Robert Redford engagierte sie 1980 für sein Regiedebüt Eine ganz normale Familie. Für Ragtime von Milos Forman wurde sie 1982 für einen Oscar nominiert. Ihre bekannteste Rolle spielte sie in Sergio Leones Es war einmal in Amerika (1984). Hier verkörperte sie die Jugendliebe von David „Noodles“ Aaronson, dargestellt von Robert DeNiro. Danach beschloss sie, sich eher auf ihre Theaterarbeit am Broadway zu konzentrieren und vernachlässigte ihre Filmkarriere.
