Her father is from New Zealand [1]. She was raised in Mackay, Queensland, Australia before moving to Sydney.

After winning a modelling competition at age 13, she took many modeling jobs around the world including a stint with Pierre Cardin and covers of Anna magazine. She has worked for Storm, Look Now and Viviens modelling agencies in London, Milan and Australia, respectively.[2]. In 2004 she became the model for the exclusive Israeli skin care company AHAVA. Jodi is the current face of Diva, a popular Australian accessories chain store. Jodi was on the cover of Dolly Magazine three times.

Gordon returned to Sydney in 2004 and auditioned for the Australian soap opera Home and Away. She won the role of Martha MacKenzie, granddaughter of longtime character Alf Stewart. It was her first acting experience ever.

On May 7, 2006 she received a Logie award for Most Popular New Female Talent (with her on-screen partner Paul O'Brien winning Most Popular New Male Talent).

On 27 November 2006, New Idea confirmed that Gordon's boyfriend, Chris Burkhardt had been diagnosed in May 2006 with an aggressive form of leukemia. On March 4, 2007, Burkhardt died after a short battle with acute myeloid leukemia. He was 23.[3]
She is currently dating Ryan Stokes, son of Channel Seven (on which Home and Away airs) boss Kerry Stokes.
