Die Vermählung zwischen Feen und Trollen ist im Feenland ausdrücklich verboten. So bleibt der Fee Willow und ihrem Mann, dem Troll Gregor, nichts anderes übrig, als die magische Heimat zu verlassen. Gemeinsam mit ihren Kindern Tom und Cindy fliehen sie in die reale Welt. Schnell stellt die Familie aber fest, dass ihr Leben unter Menschen nicht viel einfacher verläuft. Mal würde Gregor am liebsten die nervige Nachbarstochter auffressen, mal erschafft der Sohnemann mit Wunschpulver aus Versehen ein Monster oder landet wegen Diebstahls im Gefängnis. Langweilig wird es mit den neuen Erdenbewohnern jedenfalls nie.
