Kristin Scott Thomas (2008)Kristin Scott Thomas OBE (* 24. Mai 1960 in Redruth, Cornwall) ist eine britische Schauspielerin.

Leben
Thomas wuchs mit ihrer jüngeren Schwester Serena Scott Thomas im englischen Dorset auf. Im Alter von 19 Jahren ging sie als Au pair nach Paris, absolvierte dort eine Schauspielausbildung an der École Nationale des Arts et Technique de Théâtre und wurde sofort nach ihrem Abschluss für eine Rolle im Filmprojekt Unter dem Kirschmond des amerikanischen Popstars Prince verpflichtet. In den darauffolgenden Jahren war sie überwiegend in französischen Produktionen zu sehen. Ihr Durchbruch kam 1992 mit Roman Polanskis Bitter Moon. 1996 wurde sie für ihre Darstellung der Katharine Clifton in Der englische Patient für den Oscar als beste Schauspielerin nominiert. In der Folge spielte sie Hauptrollen in Der Pferdeflüsterer und in Gosford Park und gehört inzwischen zu den großen Stars der europäischen Filmszene. 2008 erhielt sie für ihre Darstellung einer Kindsmörderin in Philippe Claudels französischsprachigen Drama So viele Jahre liebe ich dich den Europäischen Filmpreis 2008 als Beste Darstellerin und wurde für den Golden Globe Award nominiert.

Daneben spielte sie auch am Theater, unter anderem Tschechow und Pirandello in London. Sie wurde 2004 für den Laurence Olivier Theatre Award als beste Schauspielerin nominiert und gewann ihn 2008 für die Rolle der Arkadina in Tschechows Die Möwe am Londoner Jerwood Theatre, eine Inszenierung, die für September 2008 als Gastspiel nach New York eingeladen ist.

2003 wurde sie mit dem Order of the British Empire und 2005 mit der Legion d'honneur ausgezeichnet. Scott Thomas lebt seit 2004 von dem französischen Arzt François Olivennes getrennt, mit dem sie seit 1987 verheiratet war. Aus der Beziehung gingen eine Tochter (* 1988) und zwei Söhne (* 1991 und 2000) hervor.
