Elisha Ann Cuthbert (* 30. November 1982 in Calgary, Alberta) ist eine kanadische Schauspielerin.

Leben

Elisha Cuthbert wurde in Calgary geboren und wuchs in Toronto auf. Sie begann ihre Karriere als Model im Alter von sieben Jahren. Es ergab sich immer wieder die Möglichkeit, kleine Rollen in Fernsehfilmen und Serien zu übernehmen.

So übernahm sie eine kleine Zusatzrolle in der Serie Are You Afraid of the Dark?. Bei den Dreharbeiten kam sie so gut an, dass sie bald darauf zur regulären Besetzung in der Serie gehörte. Im Alter zwischen 15 und 18 reiste sie als Korrespondentin für die preisgekrönte Serie Popular Mechanics for Kids um den Globus. Sie erhielt dafür einen Preis für Journalismus und wurde von der damaligen First Lady Hillary Clinton ins Weiße Haus eingeladen.

Elisha Cuthbert hatte ihren internationalen Durchbruch als Schauspielerin in der Rolle der Kimberly Bauer in der Fernsehserie 24. In der ersten Staffel von 24 spielt sie die Tochter eines Agenten der Regierung, die von Terroristen entführt wird. Die zweite Staffel handelt von einem drohenden Atombombenanschlag, vor dem sie von ihrem Vater gewarnt wird, und in der dritten Staffel arbeitet sie ebenfalls als Agentin der Regierung.

Cuthbert wurde bei den Wahlen zur FHM 100 Sexiest Women wiederholt auf einen der vorderen Plätze gewählt: Im Jahr 2003 erreichte Sie Platz 14, 2004 belegte sie den 10. Platz und im darauffolgenden Jahr Platz 5.

Weitere Filme, in denen sie mitgespielt hat, sind Lucky Girl (2001) und Old School (2003). Für ihre Rolle in Lucky Girl wurde sie mit dem Gemini Award als beste weibliche Hauptrolle ausgezeichnet und für ihre Rolle in der ersten Staffel der Serie 24 bekam sie eine Nominierung für die Screen Actors Guild Awards.

Ihr Film The Girl Next Door (2004) wurde aufgrund organisatorischer Probleme in nur wenigen Kinos in Deutschland gezeigt. Er wurde aber trotzdem zu einem ihrer bekanntesten Filme, für den sie zwei Nominierungen für den MTV-Movie-Award erhielt. Im erfolgreicheren Horror-Remake House Of Wax (2005) besetzt Elisha Cuthbert die weibliche Hauptrolle.
