Deborah Sasson (* 22. August 1959 in Boston, Massachusetts) ist eine amerikanische Opernsängerin (Sopran) und Musicaldarstellerin.

Leben

Deborah Sasson wurde als Tochter eines Iren und einer Italienerin in Boston geboren. Bereits als Jugendliche sang sie in einer Highschool-Band. Nach der Highschool studierte sie am Oberlin-Konservatorium in New York klassischen Gesang, das sie mit dem „Master of Music” erfolgreich abschloss. Ihr erstes Engagement hatte sie an der Metropolitan Opera New York. Ihr Debüt am Broadway gab sie in Show Boat, woraufhin sie 1982 von Leonard Bernstein an die Hamburger Inszenierung der West Side Story in die Rolle der Maria vermittelt wurde.

Sasson war von 1983 bis 1990 mit dem Opernsänger Peter Hofmann verheiratet. Mit den Produzenten Achim Völker und Horst Vay entwickelte sie 1988 ein Popmusik-Konzept. Seitdem veröffentlicht Sasson immer wieder Pop-CDs. Eine Duettversion von "Scarborough Fair" mit Peter Hofmann wurde mit Dreifach-Platin ausgezeichnet. Deborah Sasson gibt mit einem eigenen Ensemble Solo-Konzerte. Mit dem Opernsänger Gunther Emmerlich tritt sie in einem Duo-Programm auf.

Deborah Sasson lebt in der Nähe von Frankfurt am Main.
