Eisblume (Band)
Eisblume ist eine Pop-Rock-Band aus Berlin. Sie besteht aus der Sängerin Sotiria „Ria“ Schenk sowie Golo Schultz (Keyboards), Philipp Schardt (Bass), Philipp Schadebrodt (Drums) und Benny Baumann (Gitarre).

Im Sommer 2008 war die Band Vorgruppe bei einigen Konzerten von Ich + Ich und spielte im Frühjahr 2009 die erste Headliner-Tour[3].
Am 16. Januar 2009[4] erschien, begleitet von einem animierten Musikvideo, die Ballade Eisblumen, eine Coverversion des Titels von Subway to Sally aus dem Jahr 2005 auf dem Label B1 Recordings (Universal Music). Produziert wurde das Album von Ingo Politz (Valicon).
Eisblumes Debütalbum Unter dem Eis erschien am 6. März 2009 ebenfalls bei B1 Recordings (Universal Music). Das Video zu Eisblumen, produziert von der Stockholmer Filmproduktion Kaktus Films wurde für einen ECHO in der Kategorie „Bestes Video national“ nominiert[5]. Der TV-Sender VIVA unterstützt die Gruppe im Rahmen der Aktion „Artists Development“ mit einer „umfassenden medialen Förderung“[6].
Anfang März 2010 wurde bekannt, dass die Band mit der französischen Sängerin Jena Lee zusammenarbeitet, um eine französischsprachige Version des Liedes Eisblumen unter dem Titel Fleurs de glace (Eisblumen) zu veröffentlichen.[7]

Die Zusammenarbeit mit Michael Boden, alias Bodenski, von der Folk-Metal-Band Subway to Sally entstand laut eigener Aussage eher zufällig[8]. Sotiria Schenk hörte die Originalversion von Eisblumen auf einer Veranstaltung, nachdem Boden die Anfrage nach einer Erlaubnis für eine Coverversion erhielt, schrieb er auch den Text für den Song Unter dem Eis. Boden und Schenk hatten sich vor der Veröffentlichung der Single und des Albums mehrfach persönlich getroffen. Entgegen früherer Berichte[9] tritt Boden nicht als Produzent, jedoch als regelmäßiger Songschreiber auf. Auch die anderen Texte der Band stammen von externen Songschreibern.

Über das Album Unter dem Eis urteilt laut.de es sei „berechenbar und kalkuliert“, und die 15 Autoren der Tracks ließen die Binsenwahrheit „viele Köche verderben den Brei“ wahr werden. Zudem sei das Album stilistisch unentschlossen.[10] Laut der Kritik von Stormbringer.at wird die Stimme von Sängerin Sotiria Schenk als „nicht schlecht“ bewertet, die Lieder werden wegen ihrer „nichtssagenden Texte“ jedoch als „zu seicht“ eingestuft. Als Zielgruppe werden daher die „12 bis 16-jährigen“ angegeben. [11]

Die Band lehnt sich optisch an Tim Burtons Werken und den Manga/Anime-Stil an.

Bereits 2004 veröffentlichte die Hamburger Künstlerin Christine Westphal unter dem Projektnamen eisblume* ein gleichnamiges Musikalbum. 2009 wurde dies bei Couvade Records noch einmal veröffentlicht.
„Eisblume gründete ich schon 2004. Unter diesem Namen veröffentlichte ich ein independent Album und hatte viele Kooperationen mit verschiedensten Künstlern. Deshalb konnte das Berliner Projekt mir den Namen nicht verbieten. Ich habe es leider versäumt meinen Namen als Marke schützen zu lassen. Natürlich kommt es zu Verwechslungen. Bisher konnte ich mich nicht zu einer Namensänderung durchringen...[12]“
