Stacie Joy Orrico (* 3. März 1986 in Seattle) ist eine US-amerikanische Pop-Sängerin. Sie wurde im frühen Teenageralter bei einem christlichen Talentwettbewerb entdeckt und hat seither zwei erfolgreiche Alben veröffentlicht. Ein Drittes ist im August 2006 erschienen, in den USA kam es erst im Januar 2007 heraus.

Biografie

Kindheit und Jugend

Stacie Orrico wurde in Seattle als Tochter christlicher Eltern mit italienischen Wurzeln geboren. Beide Eltern, Dean und Patti, reisten sehr viel, auch um zu missionieren. Ihr Vater war sehr begabt und bekam viele Job-Angebote. Deshalb zog ihre Familie viel um. Orrico hat deshalb schon viel von der Welt gesehen, unter anderem die Ukraine und Hawaii. Zur Zeit wohnt sie wieder in Seattle. Orrico hat vier Geschwister: Ihr älterer Bruder Jesse, die ältere Schwester Rachel und die Zwillinge Joshua und Alicia.

Sie wuchs mit einer großen Bandbreite von Musikstilen auf. Daheim in der Familie wurden viele christliche Lieder gesungen und im Chor war sie auch. Ihr persönlicher Geschmack tendierte aber eher zu R&B und Soul. Sie zeigt Einflüsse von Ella Fitzgerald, Whitney Houston und Lauryn Hill. Sie spielt seit ihrer frühesten Kindheit Klavier. Im Alter von 6 Jahren schrieb sie ihr erstes Lied mit dem Namen "Always Answer".

Musikkarriere

Stacie Orricos Karriere begann mit zwölf Jahren bei einem christlichen Musikfestival, genannt "Praise in the Rockies" in Colorado. Orrico hat sich unbeabsichtigt bei dem Talentwettbewerb eingeschrieben und gewonnen. Fore Front Records bot ihr daraufhin sofort einen Plattenvertrag an, den sie auch annahm.

Seither hat sie zwei Alben veröffentlicht. Das Debutalbum hieß Genuine, das sie im Alter von 14 Jahren veröffentlichte. Es verkaufte sich über 13.000 Mal in der ersten Woche, das sind die höchsten Verkaufszahlen für ein Album in der ersten Woche einer christlichen Sängerin überhaupt. Im Album enthalten war die Single "Don't Look At Me", die zehn Wochen an der Spitze der christlichen Charts stand. Das Album hatte zwei weitere Nummer 1 Hits und drei weitere Top-Ten-Hits. Insgesamt verkaufte sich Genuine 500.000 Mal, was Orrico eine goldene Schallplatte einbrachte.

Ihr nächstes, jetzt eher weltliches Album, Stacie Orrico, wurde 2003 veröffentlicht und kam in die Top 200 der US-Charts. Die erste Single hieß "Stuck", die ein weltweiter Hit wurde, mit Top 10 oder Top 5 Chartplätzen im Großteil aller Ländercharts. Die zweite Single, "(There's Gotta Be) More To Life", wurde zwar kein so großer Erfolg wie "Stuck", war aber auch in vielen Ländern ein Hit. Es folgten "I Promise" und "I Could Be The One", die mangels Werbung nicht so großen Erfolg hatten. Stacie Orrico verkaufte sich über 500.000 Mal in den USA und 600.000 Mal in Japan. Weltweit verkaufte es sich 3,4 Millionen Mal.

Im August 2006 kam Orricos neuestes Album Beautiful Awakening heraus. Es kam am 31. Juli ins Internet. Bei einigen Singles hat auch sie selbst mitgeschrieben. Die erste Single heißt "I'm not missing you".

Obwohl sie Erfolg hatte, machte Stacie eine Pause. Sie brauchte Zeit für sich und wollte wieder ein normales Leben führen. Trotzdem konnte sie nicht lange ohne Musik leben und veröffentlichte in Los Angeles ihr neues Album Beautiful Awakening. Es ist das erste Album, mit dem Stacie selbst ganz zufrieden ist: Es ist "erwachsener" als die anderen Alben und sie hatte die Zeit, die sie brauchte!
