Die Vegetarierin Rachel Elizabeth Boston sieht sich selbst als Country-Girl im Herzen, aber New Yorkerin im Geist. Sie wurde am die am 9. Mai 1982 in Signal Mountain, Tennessee geboren und ist im Alter von 17 Jahren nach New York gezogen, um ihre Schauspiel-Karriere anzutreiben. Doch bevor sie Tennessee verließ wurde sie zur Miss Teen Tennessee gewählt und schaffte es 1999 sogar in die Top 10 der Miss Teen USA.

In New York studierte sie an der Fordham Universität, und hatte als Hauptaspekt ihres Studiums Shakespeare, und am "The Actor's Center". Nach vielen erfolgreichen Theaterstücken in New York und Pennsylvania entschied sie sich dann es auch vor der Kamera zu versuchen.

Dazu nahm sie den Vorschlag einer ihrer Regisseure ernst, zog aus ihrer Wohnung in Hell's Kitchen aus und landete schließlich am anderen Ende von Amerika in Los Angeles, um dort für die neuen Piloten vorzusprechen, die die Sender in Auftrag gegeben hatten. Nach nur zwei Monaten schaffte sie es auch und landete eine Hauptrolle in der Serie "American Dreams" in der sie drei Jahre lang die Rolle der Beth Mason spielte.

Nach dieser Hauptrolle, durch die sie in Amerika bekannt wurde, folgten jedoch nur noch kleine Film- und Serienrollen für Rachel, wie beispielsweise die Nebenrolle der Ms. Margo in der elften Staffel von "Eine himmlische Familie". Seit 2008 ist sie in einer Hauptrolle in der CBS-Dramedy "The Ex List" zu sehen.
