Monica Lierhaus (* 25. Mai 1970 in Hamburg) ist eine deutsche Journalistin und Fernsehmoderatorin.

Leben
1989 machte Monica Lierhaus ihr Abitur auf dem Charlotte-Paulsen-Gymnasium in Hamburg, von 1990 bis 1992 folgte ein Studium der Anglistik und der Germanistik in Hamburg. Sie absolvierte ein Praktikum bei Sportbild und war freie Mitarbeiterin bei Radio Hamburg und Klassik Radio. 1992 brach sie ihr Studium nach der Zwischenprüfung ab.

Monica Lierhaus spielt Tennis und besitzt die F-Lizenz als Tennistrainerin. Sie war in ihrer Zeit bei Sat.1 kurz mit Johannes B. Kerner liiert. Derzeit lebt sie mit Rolf Hellgardt zusammen, Programmchef beim TV-Sender Kabel 1.

Beruf
Von 1992 bis 1994 absolvierte Monica Lierhaus ein Volontariat beim Privatsender Sat.1, wo sie ab Oktober 1992 die Moderation der Sat.1 Regional-Nachrichten HH übernahm. Von 1994 bis 1996 war Monica Lierhaus Redakteurin in der Nachrichtenredaktion von Sat.1.

In den Jahren 1997 und 1998 moderierte Lierhaus die Boulevard-Sendung Blitz bei Sat.1. Ihre Karriere als Sportmoderatorin begann 1999 mit den Sportsendungen ran und live-ran, die sie bis 2001 moderierte.

Von 1999 bis 2003 moderierte sie diverse Sportsendungen mit den Schwerpunkten Tennis und Fußball beim Pay-TV-Sender Premiere. In den Jahren 2002 und 2003 moderierte sie neben ihrer Tätigkeit bei Premiere auch beim ZDF die Unterhaltungssendungen Die große Knoff-Hoff-Show und Die Krimi-Show.

Seit Januar 2004 ist Monica Lierhaus für die ARD tätig und moderiert im Wechsel mit Reinhold Beckmann und Gerhard Delling regelmäßig die Sportschau.

Monica Lierhaus wird außerdem für die Moderation von Live-Übertragungen diverser Fußballspiele, z. B. dem DFB-Pokal, eingesetzt. Auch bei sportlichen Großereignissen der letzten Jahre (Tour de France, Olympische Spiele 2004 und 2006) war sie stets als Moderatorin im Einsatz. Seit Olympia 2006 moderiert sie auch gelegentlich Skisprungübertragungen der ARD. Bei der Fußball-WM 2006 war sie stetige Begleiterin der deutschen Fußballnationalmannschaft und berichtete u. a. von den Pressekonferenzen.

Ende 2006 moderierte sie zusammen mit Ottfried Fischer die Benefiz-Gala Stars in der Manege.
