Mini Biography
Daughter of veteran actors, Samantha Lockwood was born in Los Angeles and raised in Malibu and Palm Springs. She achieved outstanding academics including a 4.2 grade average in at the Palm Valley Prep School. Her father is the iconic Gary Lockwood, widely known for Sci-Fi work and especially as Dr. Frank Poole in "2001: A Space Odyssey" and Denise DuBarry, known for her role as a regular in Black Sheep Squadron, countless television episodes, and films such as "Being There".
Recently Samantha starred in the independent feature "Mexican Gold", and most recently completed another leading role as the pregnant receptionist in a new web pilot "Storefront". One of her first roles in was in Catherine Hardwick's "Lords of Dogtown," since then she's co-starred on "CSI: New York," as well as starred in her own short film "That Guy" which made big in festivals. She has also done very well in print and commercials.
Samantha began her acting studies at age 15 with drama coach Aaron Speiser, and Stewart Moss. She has studied and coached with a long list of teachers since then. To this day she Samantha swears her best acting coach has been her father who also taught acting for several years. She also credits her Bikram Yoga discipline. She won a medal for Best in Posture, and has even competed in the International Yoga Competition. She is also a California ambassador for the "Goodwill Peace Treaty".
She's been the topic of numerous headlines in her hometown communities of in Palm Springs, and Malibu, and highlighted in several prominent Magazine's such as: cover of Ms. Fitness, La Quinta Magazine (cover), The Desert Life Magazine, Palm Springs Life, LA Confidential and in Maxim where she was noted as the "upcoming talented young actresses to keep an eye on".
An additional skill Samantha has acquired is fine art painting. She studied under Jack Flannigan at the Palm Valley Prep School. Upon completion of the private school she went on to study at UC Santa Cruz and then under the world-renowned Japanese artist Muramasa Kudo. She gives back by donating her art to many charitable organizations such as Desert Samaritan's, and the American Caner Society, Women In Film and A United Journey to Humanity just to name a few. This work has been featured in many interviews and magazines making Samantha not just a pretty face or an actress, but an artistic entity.
